In the Beginning...

How majestic it is to see Praise Christian Center World Outreach explode after a humble beginning in the living room of the pastor's home (as Praise Community Church). April 28, 1985, was a glorious day in the life of Patrick T. Randolph and the twelve believers who came together for the first worship service. That service culminated with one of those persons being born again and baptized in the bath tub.

The excitement inspired these believers to continue meeting in the Randolph's home for approximately four months. By confessing the Word of God, the Lord gave favor through Mr. H. B. Hamlin, superintendent of Channelview ISD, for use of the school district's administration building for services for approximately one year. During this first year the membership increased one hundred percent.

The summer of 1986 brought more manifested blessings of favor, a permanent storefront building, of about 2000 square feet, located at 15019 Woodforest. This gave Praise (as the church is affectionately called) as opportunity to expand its ministries and membership. Over the next three and a half year period the membership increased approximately one hundred and twenty percent. Proof of the God-given vision was coming into manifestation.

In 1989, Praise acquired its first property, a place to truly call home at 913 Ashland, Channelview, Texas. Now the ministry would begin the upstart of vehicles to fulfill the vision. The youth, children and nursery ministries were born. Praise Academy of Christian Education opened its doors in this location September 1993.

Pastor Randolph and the congregation of about three hundred made another significant turn and renamed the church in September 1996. The ministry was no longer just a community outreach, but a world outreach with a global perspective. Praise Christian Center World Outreach was born with ministry in South America, Mexico, the Caribbean, Africa, India and Europe.

This new direction brought rapid increase calling for facility expansion. So in December 2003, Praise opened the doors of its new headquarters "Praise House" at 1100 Dell Dale Avenue, Channelview, Texas. The 913 Ashland location remains a part of the Praise vision serving as the Youth Center and home to Praise Academy of Christian Education.

Operating from both locations, Praise is truly a landmark in Channelview. Praise is the fastest growing church on Houston's East side.
